Julian Schmid won the second World Cup victory for the German combined athletes in Otepää. The Allgäu native benefited from the wind cancellation of jumping during the mass start.

Julian Schmid benefited from the cancellation of jumping in the mass start in Otepää, Finland. After the 10 km run he was “only” in fourth place behind the strong Norwegian Jens Luras Oftebro. But the subsequent jumping was canceled due to strong winds.

The PCR jump was used for the scoring – and Schmid was third. This meant that the Allgäu native was able to overtake his competitors and celebrate his first win of the season. Austrian Johannes Lamparter came in second, Oftebro came third.

German combined athletes in Olympic form

For the DSV it was another exclamation mark four weeks before the Olympics after Vinzenz Geiger won the World Cup race in Ramsau in the last competition of the year.

“Oldie” Rydzek second best German

The second best German was Johannes Rydzek in fifth. Geiger took tenth place. The other Germans, David Mach, Simon Mach, Wendelin Thannheimer, Manuel Faißt and Richard Stenzel, took places 17, 19, 20, 25 and 28.
