With the signing of Edin Dzeko during the last winter transfer period, FC Schalke 04 showed a golden touch. Because the Bosnian World Cup driver only signed for Berger Feld for six months, the center forward’s future is still open. The 40-year-old apparently already has an S04 contract offer.
As “Sky” reports, citing its own information, there is “reason for hope for the S04 fans” that Edin Dzeko will also wear the FC Schalke 04 jersey in the new season. Accordingly, the star striker already has a contract offer. Even if a decision about the 40-year-old’s future will probably only be made after the 206 World Cup, the chances of a signature are apparently not too bad.
Because according to the pay-TV broadcaster, the miners are planning to promote the goalscorer into the circle of “absolute top earners”. Without giving exact figures on the possible salary, Dzeko should receive a similar amount in the future as captain Kenan Karaman and goalkeeper Loris Karius, who is close to extending his contract. According to “Bild”, Dzeko has an annual salary of around 1.5 million euros.
FC Schalke 04: Chance of Dzeko extension “basically good”
Sports director Frank Baumann recently assessed the chances of continuing the collaboration as “basically good” in the “kicker” interview. “Edin has signaled that he can absolutely physically imagine continuing his career – we can also imagine that he can help us on the pitch, but with all his experience and professional attitude, also off the pitch,” said the Schalke boss.
After his winter move, Dzeko impressed with six goals in eleven second division games. The 40-year-old will compete with the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2026 World Cup. “I’m not someone who makes quick decisions. That also applies in this case,” Dzeko emphasized to the “kicker” in mid-May.
According to the center forward, the move to Gelsenkirchen has already been worth it. “I’ve won a lot in my career. But honestly: I’ve never celebrated as much as I did with Schalke after our promotion. That shows how important this success is for all of us and all Schalke fans. I said from the start that FC Schalke 04 belongs in the first division,” said Dzeko.
