Pete Doherty gave an update to his health in a recent interview. In an interview with Toby Tarrant in the “Chris Moyles Show” on Radio X, Doherty announced that he is currently wearing orthopedic shoes to relieve his feet.
In the radio interview, Doherty emphasized that he was external to his orthopedic shoes in order to advance to hurt comments. In the course of time, increased blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels that supply the nerves in the feet. This can lead to a loss of feeling (peripheral neuropathy), which means that injuries remain unnoticed. Reduced blood supply to the feet can also make healing of cuts and wounds more difficult, which in the worst case can lead to ulcers, infections and amputations.
In November 2023, Pete Doherty described himself as a “very sick man” and said death was lurking. He explained: “[Das] Heroin and the crack … I surrendered to it. Then it was cocaine and smoking and alcohol, and now it’s cheese and the sausage, and the sugar in tea … it all has to go. “
Musical plans for 2025
Despite these challenges, Doherty remains musically active. Later this summer, The Libertines will play a number of open-air concerts in Great Britain, including in Londons Gunnersbury Park, Dreamland Margate and The Piece Hall in Halifax.
