According to the Public Prosecution Service, a 26-year-old man from Meppel has affected the honor and good name of twelve women by posting suggestive photos on the internet without their permission. For exposing either Online Shaming A prison sentence of four years was demanded against the Meppeler, two of which are conditional.

“He shared a piece of me on the internet unsolicited. I could only be ashamed,” one of the victims later told the police. The public prosecutor believes that the suspect “should be deeply ashamed, not his victims”.

The goal of the Meppeler was to publicize the women. The images were sexually in nature, the prosecutor said and were accompanied by calls to sexually bother the victim. The images and calls spread like an oil slick on the internet, the prosecutor said.

The man is accused of spreading the images and personal data online in the period from July 2021 to March 2023. The victims were former friends or former colleagues of the suspect, or had been in the classroom with him. He had a relationship with one of them for years.

He approached them via fake accounts on social media, but also directly. Images of the women popped up on different (porn) sites. They were often linked to images of naked female bodies.

With the images, the telephone number of the victim was and sexual proposals were also made. “As a result, the women were harassed by dozens of men with gore requests and questions,” said the public prosecutor. From July 2021 the declarations of online shaming received.

A stop interview with the police had no effect. The unwanted photos and unfair proposals continued to appear on the internet. “He always made new victims,” said the prosecutor. The Meppeler denies. “I don’t understand how it is possible either, but it wasn’t me,” the suspect told court.

For years he broke his head who is behind it. Perhaps his sister, with whom he has had no contact with for years, he suggested. His sister told the police that she was seriously concerned about the mental well -being of her brother.

In addition, child pornography was found on the phone of the Meppeler. That came to light by a prostitute who went to the police delivered. She had a young customer that night who showed her child pornography. The videos in particular were too much for her. The customer was the suspect from Meppel.

On his phone there were 274 photos and videos with child pornography. The man has no idea how that all ended up on his phone, he said. “The nose of Pinocchio has never been so long,” the public prosecutor told about it.

In March 2023 the Meppeler was put out of swimming pool Hesselingen in Meppel because he would have assaulted a child of 11 years. He would have touched the girl in the whitewater course. The man also denies that. “Maybe I was struggling to her, it could not have been more than that,” he said.

Only the online insulting of the father of one of the complains admitted the man. He posted a photo of the father in May of last year, with the text that the man was violent. He posted that defamation report because he had been beaten by the man shortly before. The suspect ended up in the hospital with a broken nose and breastbone.

The father stood up for his daughter who has been brought online by the Meppeler online for months, the prosecutor said. This abuse has since been settled by the OM with a so -called penalty decision. That means that the Public Prosecution Service handled that case without the intervention of the judge.

It was not possible to investigate the suspect psychologically. The suspect said that he himself has already called in psychological help. Nevertheless, treatment is desperately needed, says the public prosecutor. The two -year prison sentence must ensure that the Meppeler cooperates in this. In addition, he should be banned with the complainants.

The handling of the case has taken a long time, the public prosecutor realizes. Part of the investigation was in the hands of the Central Netherlands police. The transferring has taken a while, the prosecutor said.

The Meppeler’s lawyer sees too many contradictions in the investigation and there are other scenarios. She argued for acquittal on different points.

The court will rule on March 4.
