Malou Petter pulls the plug out of her role as presenter of News of the Day. As a reason, she mentions ‘the substantive course’, in other words: she finds it all too right. What will Art Rooijakkers do?

It was already a gamble: the switch from the NOS Journaal to an SBS 6 show full of Telegraaf opinions. It went well for one season, but apparently Malou Petter has now come to the conclusion that she finds news of the day a little too much unheard of Nederland-Light. She joins the program full of right -wing opinion makers.

Malou away

Malou says she doesn’t feel at home there and that is why her multi -year contract with Talpa is dissolved. “We started this adventure together, but I can’t agree with the current direction. I would have liked to have seen it differently, but I am completely behind my decision. I wish the program and the editors every success.”

Her boss Frans Klein, one of the bobos at Talpa, says: “It is a shame that Malou has made this choice, but at the same time we can only respect it. We have seen in the past period that the program is becoming increasingly impact, both in reach and in the social debate.”

And then art?

Frans itself remains behind the news rate of the day. “The choice to start our evening programming with this program in which the journalists and especially the Opinion makers of De Telegraaf appear to catch on with our viewers and we are proud of that.”

Does the exit of Malou get another tail? According to critics, colleague Art Rooijakkers is just as progressive as Malou. “Inadvertently, this also puts more pressure on Art Rooijakkers to think about his future in this program,” writes down Mediaciticus Victor Vlam X.

Relief

Under the departure report on the X page of News of the Day, the tone is hard but united: relief. “You can get Malou out of the NOS, but not the NOS from Malou,” it sounds.

Others called her ‘a left-wing troll’ or ‘nos-tutje’ and wish her good luck ‘at Nieuwsuur or Al Jazeera’. Dozens of reactions had the same meaning: “Best news of the day. Now art.”

Back at NOS

TV connoisseur Rob Goossens thinks Malou will return to the public broadcaster with hanging legs. “How quickly will we see her again at the NOS?”

One Ron then: “Given her recent statements, she is received there with open arms.”

What he is referring to? Malou recently received a lot of criticism of a comment she made against Bram Moszkowicz:
