The Plato platform-sole, mega-high heels are now the favorite shoe of stars and street style mavens. In some cases, the heel of platform sole shoes can be up to a whopping 30 centimeters.

The favorite shoe of strippers, pole dancers and pin up models actually has a long history. Introduced in the 16th century, platform-soled shoes symbolized aristocracy in late medieval Venice. Instead, Hollywood adopted the model in the 30s, when stars began to prefer them. In the 70s, many male artists, such as Elton John, David Bowie and Marvin Gaye fell in love with the platform ankle boots.

Among the fashion designers, for example, a French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier as well as the late fashion designers Thierry Mugler and Gianni Versace often presented precisely this high-heeled shoe model in their collections. Now such can be seen again in the selections of fashion houses.
