Two new hearts: it is the greatest gift, which arrived just a few days before Christmas, for two children aged 6 and 8 who had been on the waiting list at theBambino Gesù Hospital for a transplant. The generosity of the families of two other children, their peers, transformed the dream into reality: the operations, carried out on 18 and 20 December, went well and the children, after several days in a pharmacological coma, were “awaken” completely on Christmas Eve.
Exceptionally, they were able to spend the celebration in the intensive care unit together with their families. A Christmas fairy tale with a happy endingafter so much suffering. The transplants were performed by two different cardiac surgical teams led by doctors Lorenzo Galletti and Adriano Carotti.
