18-year-old Lars from Berlicum, who was found dead on the Kesselseweg in Maren-Kessel on the night of Friday to Saturday, was run over on the road. The police reported this on Saturday evening. He was not on his bicycle at the time of the accident.
What exactly happened is still unclear. “All scenarios are still open,” a police spokesperson said on Saturday evening. “We are investigating how he ended up on the road.”
The 23-year-old driver from Maren-Kessel who was arrested twenty minutes after the accident remains in custody for additional investigation.
The victim was found by a passerby around half past three on Friday night. Because the man had injuries, the police already suspected that he had been hit by a car.
