From now on women can pee for free at the toilets that the municipality of Tilburg has placed at the Tilburg fair. That is what fair alderman Maarten van Asten said. Women had to pay another euro per urethra until Saturday, while men could do their needs for free at Plas crosses. The ‘Dolle Mina’s’ Tilburg therefore went to battle on Saturday and went into protest: “This is pee discrimination!”
Elysa and Paulina knotted pink ribbons on Saturday for all the urinals at the Tilburg fair. Because why do men pee for free and do women have to pay? With this promotion they attracted a lot of attention.
Fair alderman Maarten van Asten knows: that men could pee for free and pay women a euro was actually quite a strange choice. “That action of the Dolle Mina’s has made us think. Why did we actually think this is that way? So we looked at whether that could be done differently. You don’t have to pay for the pee crosses, so if you sit down, you don’t have to.”
“Whether they are enough toilets always remains the question.”
At the Tilburg fair, various toilets have been placed by the municipality: toilet buildings and pee crosses. The toilet facilities that the municipality has placed are now free. For everyone: male or female, whether you poop or pee.
This concerns the toilets on Bisschop Zwijsenstraat, NS Square (near Burgemeester Brokxlaan) and Gasstraat (Besterdplein). “Whether they are enough toilets always remains the question,” says Van Asten. He knew on more options to do your need. “At Events at the Tilburg fair, the organizers are responsible for placing toilets. And there are also catering establishments where you can pee.”
