Julian Nagelsmann wants to win the Nations League with the DFB team. The national coach made a surprising decision for the semi -finals.

Before the game against Portugal in the Nations League, the question arises around the German national team with which starting eleven Julian Nagelsmann wants to make the entry into the final of the Nations League perfectly. The national coach has several options, especially in the storm center – and has now obviously decided to be a surprising one.

As the “picture” reports, Nick Woltemade will appear in the semi -finals from the start. The attacker from VfB Stuttgart had recently been nominated for the German A selection for the first time. Now he is probably celebrating his debut with a starting fine.

On Tuesday, Nagelsmann had confirmed that the 1.98-meter man had a good impression in training. However, he left an effort from the start. And: DFB returnee Niclas Füllkrug, Nagelsmann emphasized, was “a bit more present” in training. Maybe, according to the coach, “we also play with both”. A possibility that now seems quite likely.

For Woltemade, his debut for the A-National team would be the next chapter in his success story of the past few months. Last summer from Bremen switched to VfB Stuttgart, the 23-year-old developed into an indispensable size in the attack of the Swabians over the course of the season. 17 competitive goals in 33 games were on his account at the end of the season. At the end of May he won the DFB Cup with VfB (4: 2 against Arminia Bielefeld).

After the Nations League, which ends for the DFB team on Sunday either with the final in Munich or the game for third place in Stuttgart, there is hardly any time for Woltemade. For him it goes straight to the U21 national team in Slovakia. The U21 European Championship starts there on June 12th.

DFB coach Antonio di Salvo said at the end of the young professional training camp in Blankenhain: “Nick will probably arrive on Monday. If he played before, he cannot train anyway.” The U21 team will travel to Modra to the European Championship district on Sunday. Di Salvo had also clarified with national coach Nagelsmann that Woltemade was still joining the team. “I discussed with Julian that Nick came to us after the two games.”
