The Kabouterpad of Wim Koelewijn is deeply hidden in the forest. After his retirement, he decided to put a few garden gnomes to entertain his granddaughters. That hobby said he got out of hand, and soon there were more than 120 gnomes along the paths.
But a few weeks ago it went wrong on Wim’s Kabouterpad. Young vandals broke the gnomes short and small. Broken shards, bubbles and trunks stinging from tree trunks were left behind. “That it is destroyed, that hurts. Then the courage drops you”, “, Wim told NH earlier.
Neighborhood donates en masse garden gnomes
Local residents also saw it with sorrow and took action. Wim’s good friend Bert van Valkengoed was one of the many who spread a call in different group chats to donate gnomes for a brand new gnome path. And soon the ball started rolling.
The result: Wim’s garage is now filled with more than a hundred new gnomes. “Heart -warming”, the Kabouterpad manager summarizes in a word.
Location remains secret
So now Wim and Bert now drive up and down between the garage and the path to give all the new forest dwellers a nice place.
But where exactly the gnome path is, Wim from now on keeps secret. To prevent it from becoming the target of vandalism again.
