Third robbery this weekend in Amstelveen: police are looking for a man on crutches

A robbery took place on Thorbeckelaan in Amstelveen this evening just before half past nine. Two robberies were also committed in the municipality on Saturday evening. The descriptions of the suspects are similar in striking respects: for example, one of them walked on crutches.

In connection with tonight’s robbery, the police ask Amstelveen residents to be on the lookout for a dark-skinned boy with ‘long-hanging’ black pants. This person fled on a dark scooter with a windshield and was carrying a pair of crutches under his arm. A second suspect is said to be light-skinned and wearing a green Nike tracksuit. He rode away on a fat bike.

Balaclava

The police released some more details about Saturday evening’s robberies earlier this evening. The first robbery was on Saturday around 10:10 PM on the Wedderborg near a football field on the Middachten in Westwijk. Two boys wearing balaclavas robbed someone of his phone under threat of violence. The boys are said to be between 14 and 16 years old.

Red fat bike

The second robbery took place shortly afterwards: around 10:35 p.m., on the Kazernepad near the A9. That is near Thorbeckelaan, where the robbery happened tonight. This victim was assaulted and robbed of his phone, debit card and red fat bike.

The two suspects fled on the stolen fat bike and a scooter. It is not yet known whether the fat bike the suspect rode away with tonight is also red. What is particularly striking is that one of the two suspects also had crutches with him during this robbery.

A police investigation must reveal whether the robberies were always committed by the same boys. The police must first make arrests. She therefore calls on witnesses to come forward.
