The Queen Has Been Struck – Here’s a new matriarch

Faith Kipyegon took the world’s best endurance runner from Sifan Hassan in Budapest.

The queen has been beaten. The Netherlands dominated women’s endurance running in 2019–21 Sifan Hassan humbled Kenya in the 5,000m final in Budapest on Saturday night For Faith Kipyegon.

– They are two of the world’s strongest female endurance runners and of course Faith is currently number one, says Iltalehti’s expert Arto Bryggare.

Kipyegon, who held the 1,500m, mile and 5,000m world records earlier this season, also defeated Hassan in the 1,500m in Budapest.

– Kipyegon has an even wilder streak than Hassan. The Dutchman has also had a heady streak, but it would seem that he is more or less on the move this season. It will be interesting to see what he thinks about the Paris Olympics.

Debut at the marathon

Hassan, who runs all distances from 800 meters to the marathon, clocked a terrific time of 2:18:33 in the debut marathon of his career in the spring in London, although he stopped once on the way because of a cramp.

– Tonnivitose believes that Hassan has no more edge against Kipyegon. With Vito, the seams get better, but then you can’t run marathons in the spring. Kymppi would probably be the strongest for Hassan compared to Kipyegon – even if the Kenyan could also move hard in ten.

Kipyegon didn’t run for ten in Budapest. Hassan ran, but fell from the pole position on the finish line and was left without a medal.

– It would have been idiotic of Faith to go for a run. If it had been in 15 degree weather, the situation would have been different. These weathers are terrible for endurance running.

The Kenyan’s balance from Hungary is therefore the gold medals of Tonnivitone and Vitone. For the Dutchman, bronze in 1,500 meters, silver in 5,000 meters and eleventh place in 10,000 meters.

Canada winced

Canada has been flying hard at the World Championships in Budapest. On Saturday, it rose to the position of its superior southern neighbor in the medal table, when the decathlon became a double victory, gold in the men’s 800 meters and silver in the women’s shot put.

– It’s a very good thing for the sport that Canada is successful. When the Russians have been moved to the side, somehow it has become a USA-Canada international match, especially in moukari and kuula, says Bryggare.

Before Saturday, Canada had gold medals in women’s and men’s sculls.

Scores for Estonia

Estonia’s medal tally remains at zero at the Budapest Games, but recognition must be given to the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland for the level of the men’s decathlon.

The Estonian brothers took places four, six and nine.

– The result says a lot about Estonian athletics. The Estonian model is that everyone matches. I think it’s a very good system.

The most anticipated event on Saturday was of course the men’s soap final. Armand Duplantis took his with a score of 610.

– He is the biggest superstar in athletics. The road took strength and the gunpowder became wet. Mondo is crushingly efficient and the speeds are on point, so it would be a wonder if he doesn’t break the world record in the next few weeks.
