According to the report, those responsible at Alpine currently clearly intend to continue with Franco Colapinto in the 2027 Formula 1 season. The young Argentine should therefore continue to form a team with Pierre Gasly in the future.
Colapinto is having the best Formula 1 season of his career
This fits: Colapinto has stabilized enormously this season. The 23-year-old finished in the points in four of seven races. In Montreal and Miami he achieved the two best results of his young F1 career with sixth and seventh places. Although his teammate Gasly is still significantly stronger, Colapinto has already scored 16 World Cup points this season and thus provided arguments for continued employment.
The fact that Alonso showed up at the Alpine Hospitality in Barcelona fueled the rumor mill, but it was apparently nothing more than a visit to old friends. The Spaniard and Alpine team boss Flavio Briatore have known each other for decades, and the Italian also acts as an advisor to the two-time world champion.
