Düsseldorf Pungerende is honored by GEMA for its “formative influence on the cultural landscape”

The dead trousers have now arrived at an age, where all kinds of ways of lifestyle are worthwhile. This ranges from the honor of a university lecture to beautiful-long-with-the-do.

The most recent example: The special commissioning for “inspiration” of the recycling company GEMA, which is presented as part of the German music author and music author prize. This trophy bouquet, consisting of different categories, has been awarded to “outstanding textipers and composers of all music styles” since 2009. In the first year, the film composer Peter Thomas, who died in 2020, received a prize in the “Lebenswerk” category. Niles Frevert won a laurel for “composition independent”. The dead trousers were able to strike in 2013, in the “Composition Rock/Pop” sector.

“The dead trousers are more than just a band – they are an institution in Germany”

The special category “Inspiration” has existed since last year, which is intended to appreciate the positive influence of the ancient times on new generations. In the announcement on the award, it says to the pants-youevre: “For their formative influence on the cultural landscape and its contribution to social discourse, we give you the special prize as an appreciation for your continuing importance for the music world”.

The GEMA supervisory board announces in addition: “The dead trousers are more than just a band – they are an institution in Germany”.

The laudation states: “With its distinctive mix of punk rock energy and profound texts, you inspire generations of musicians and fans alike. Their uncompromising occurrence of social justice, their clear attitude against extremism and their tireless efforts for people in need make them real role models far beyond the music scene. They are a lively cultural asset and at the same time the voice of a generation that is not satisfied with the status quo. ”

The five Düsseldorfers play the ball back and are happy: “It is a great privilege to be able to write and play music that many people achieve and means something to them. It is all the more a pleasure for us to be awarded that we were able to inspire others to go similar paths. In our youth, bands like The Clash and the Ramones showed us that you don’t have to be a filigree technician to write big songs. And if a group like us has come through for over forty years, then we are already excited. ”

The handover of the Inspiration Cup will take place on February 27 as part of a festive gala in Berlin.
