Shortly after the presale begins, tickets are resold on eBay at exorbitant prices.
On July 12, at 9 a.m., the first presales for the German tour dates of Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour opened on Eventim. To avoid chaos, presale codes were sent to pre-registered users, which allowed them to join a virtual queue. Nevertheless, access to the presale does not promise success when buying tickets. However, the first concerts are now sold out and many fans are complaining about problems on the Eventim website. In addition, not all buyers are actually interested in attending a gig by the pop singer – after all, resale via eBay is already starting.
1,500 euros for two standing places in Gelsenkirchen
There are already many users on eBay who offer tickets for the German concerts for sale for enormous sums. For example, two tickets for standing room (“Front Standing”) in Gelsenkirchen are available on the online platform for almost 1,500 euros – around 1,200 euros more than the original price. Other eBay users are auctioning off their tickets, with the price for a single standing spot in Gelsenkirchen, for example, after 21 bids being as low as 391 euros.
Furthermore, access codes for the presale are advertised with a starting bid of 29 euros, as well as four tickets from 1,800 euros. In any case, it can be said: The price range is really extreme on eBay shortly after the start of advance sales.
Eventim actually tried to counteract resale by setting up personalization for the Taylor Swift concerts. This means that buyers are noted by name on the ticket and thus only those who have bought admission themselves or who come to the event accompanied by the main buyer are granted access to the performance. While this makes resale difficult, it’s not impossible to change the personalization on the cards.
