The first club World Cup has been over since the reform. Donald Trump was also on site at the final. However, there was no joyful reception for the US President.

Donald Trump was considered at the final of the club World Cup with vocal devices. When the US President, after the game, stepped together with FIFA President Gianni Infantino for allocating medals about the lawn of the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, the 79-year-old was booed and whistled by many spectators, as T-online reporter Julian Buhl reports. Some grandstands even showed the Republican the middle finger.

Also in the subsequent photo with the referees of the final, Trump had to endure clearly audible whistles. Even the loud music in the stadium could not drown out. In the TV broadcast at the streaming service DAZN, the whistles and boos were only heard in a situational manner, but they could not be ignored on site. However, the US President himself gave himself unimpressed, and he rarely stretched his fist into the air and clapped his hands.

Before the game, Trump was only shown in the stadium during the national anthem over the screens. The US President was not shown more often on the screens, presumably out of concern about corresponding spectator reactions. Because New Jersey and the adjacent New York are states that are traditionally ruled by the Democratic Party.

In addition, the PSG fans’ whistles could also have a political cause: the ultras of the French Champions League winner have several times solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and sparked a lot of vertebrae with anti-Israel calls. Donald Trump’s policy, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. He clearly stands on the side of Israel and supports the government around Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

But there were also many boos from the Chelsea block. The reasons could be similar, even if the supporters of the “blues” have so far positioned themselves less politically. The club itself remained rather neutral.
