Sources tell TMZ That Cher (79) focuses entirely on the recovery of her son and “does everything in her power to give him the help he needs”. It is also claimed that Allman may “speak of happiness” that he survived.
According to Sunday’s latest reports, Elijah is still in the hospital, where he receives “the best possible care.”
Forced admission to rehab clinic
Elijah, the first son from Chers wedding to the late rock musician Gregg Allman, has been struggling with addiction since a young age. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight In 2014 he said that he started with (hard) drug use at the age of eleven. “I just tried to escape from everything from my past, and then you soon end up with heavy drugs such as heroin and opiates,” he said at the time.
“Heroin has saved me in a certain sense,” he added. “If I hadn’t had that then, I don’t know what I had done. Maybe I would have jumped from a bridge. But if you can survive that dark valley and then seek help, there is hope.”
Over the years he has seen rehab clinics several times from the inside. In 2023 he was in Rehab for the last time. His mother then organized an intervention, after which he was forced.
‘Serious psychological problems’
In the same year, Cher asked the judge for her son to put him under guardianship. According to the application, he would not be able to manage his financial matters independently due to ‘serious psychological problems and a persistent addiction’. Eventually she retired her application.
Cher Stakes attempts to put son under guardianship
Allman stated at the time that he was on the better hand, but with today’s knowledge it seems like a misplaced estimate.
Last month, video images of him appeared at a hotel in Los Angeles. He looked unkempt, wore torn clothes, had visible wounds on his body and seemed to have trouble standing upright.
