This secret has remained hidden for almost 50 years-now a new biography is to bring the previously unknown chapter in the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury to light: According to the British media reports1, the music icon is attributed to a secretly born daughter.

Father and grandpa?

As the book “Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury’s Secret Life & Love” by British music journalist Lesley-Ann Jones, Mercury is said to have had a short affair with the wife of a close friend in 1976. This encounter emerged from a child who is 48 years old today, lives in Europe and works as a health specialist. She should also be a mother, which means that Mercury is now posthumously grandfather. After decades of silence, the woman, who is only referred to as “B” in the biography, has decided to tell her history – and thus brings a completely new dimension to the already dazzling life of the singer.

According to this, only Mercury’s closest confidants – including his parents, his sister, bandmate of Queen and his long -time friend Mary Austin – knew about the existence of the daughter. However, this knowledge never became public.

The child’s mother is said to have been a believing Catholic – for her, a termination of pregnancy was never possible. The fact that Mercury took care of his daughter was “the greatest blessing of his life,” said Jones.

Mercury is said to have been committed and caring as a father, with daily contact, even during tours. An independent regulation outside of his will also secured the well -being of his daughter – and saved the secret.

“We had a very tight and loving relationship”

In a handwritten letter that is printed in the book, writes “B”:

“Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very tight and loving relationship from the moment I was born. (…) The circumstances of my birth may seem unusual for many, but they never prevented him from loving and taking care of me.”

The biography describes how “B” was raised by a loving family, but always knew who her birth father was. Before Mercury died of a pneumonia caused by AIDS in 1991, he handed over 17 extensive volumes of his personal diaries to his daughter. “B” had kept this secret for years, but now handed over to journalist Jones. The diaries form the basis for the book, which is to be released on September 5, 2025.

Author Jones, a young friend of David Bowie, who has already published the bestseller “Freddie Mercury. Die Biography”, is convinced of the authenticity

The story: “My first impulse was skepticism – but I am sure: she is not a fantastic. And she doesn’t want money or fame,” she says.

Why is the unveiling only coming now? “B” writes: “After more than three decades full of lies and speculations, it is time to speak Freddie himself. I make the decision to go public now all by myself.”
