Ruud van Nistelrooij praises teamwork and responds to cup incident

Of course a lot of joy at PSV after the 3-0 victory over Ajax. Trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij said that he could compliment everyone. The PSV trainer praised the teamwork, but expects a more difficult match in the cup final next week. Then the two ruffs face each other again. Van Nistelrooij: “We have to be even better then.”

Afterwards he was asked about some individual players. But he soon stopped doing that. “I can compliment everyone, but above all I have seen a real team. The players fought hard.”

The trainer continues to praise: “I am very happy with this match. It was a top performance from everyone. I am also glad that spark spread in the stands.”

“It’s going to be okay, but now we’re paying the price.”

Of course he was not referring to the cup that was thrown after an hour of football. The game was therefore stopped for fifteen minutes. “That is not appreciated,” said Van Nistelrooij about that incident. “You saw that in the players. They kept busy with the public but I went to get them because I wanted them to go in and recharge.”

Still, the former striker knows that it will be all right. “We will have to look at other countries such as England. It’s going to be fine, I’m sure. We’re just paying the price now.”

“I expect it to be a completely different game.”

Back to football. A 3-0 win for PSV and so the people of Eindhoven are confidently heading towards the cup final next week. Then, in the Rotterdamse Kuip, the same poster is on the program. “Ajax is going to respond,” said the PSV trainer. “We have to be even better then. Today was a top performance, but it will have to be delivered again next week. I expect the same sharpness.”

Xavi Simons joined his trainer. “Ajax should never be underestimated. It’s a final and there’s a prize at stake. I expect it to be a completely different game.”
