During the ticking Klok Challenge, participants ran one or two rounds of 4,259 meters every hour, the length of the entire Zandvoort circuit. All to raise money for the PLN Foundation.
In the Netherlands, an estimated 12,000 people are carriers of the hereditary PLN mutation, but only about 1,700 people know that they have the condition. “We are talking about a genetic time bomb,” says Pieter Glijnis, chairman of the PLN Foundation. “Without diagnosis or treatment, PLN can lead to cardiac arrhythmias or even sudden heart failure. Awareness and research are of vital importance.”
