Sanches will fill an important role in the midfield of Mourinho’s team: “We have different types of players with different characteristics, I think it’s important to have a team that has a lot of variety in midfield, we have players with a lot of quality and I’m convinced that it’s really good so that the coach has different tactical choices.”

He is inevitably closely linked to the Special One: “It’s always easier when you have a Portuguese coach, it’s our language, it’s easier to understand what he wants and what he asks of me as a player. But above all it’s essential to hear his support”. From Portugal there are also Tiago Pinto and Rui Patricio: “It was a great fortune to find them, they can explain to me what the club is really like and I will probably be able to integrate more quickly”.

As always happens with new arrivals, there is also talk of the derby with Lazio: “A derby is always a derby. We all want to win it, they are the city’s matches and when we represent our city we always have to win”.
