Real Madrid confirm the return of Brahim Díaz from AC Milan

New contract for rental professional

Attacking force Brahim Díaz spent three years on loan at AC Milan, won the Italian championship with the Rossoneri last season and made it into the Champions League semi-finals this season. Now the time in the cathedral city is over for the 23-year-old: Díaz is returning to his regular club Real Madrid in the summer and has signed a contract extension until 2027.

The Manchester City-trained Spaniard had contributed 18 goals and 15 assists in 124 games for Milan since September 2020. “During this phase, he became an important player in the historic Italian team,” Reals said in a statement.

Díaz, whose market value has recently jumped up again and has now increased by almost 8 million euros since leaving Madrid, had recently also been associated with other clubs – in the meantime he was considered, among other things, as a possible part of the Bellingham Deals between Real and Borussia Dortmund.

Milan have always tried to keep the attacking player, who made 45 appearances in all competitions last season and contributed seven goals and assists. “He did very well here. We’ll sit down at a table with Real Madrid and see what our chances are. We want to keep Brahim, we trust him,” sports director Frederic Massara, who has since been ousted, let it be known in April (quoted via “realtotal.de“).

In the course of the loan extension in summer 2021, the Italians had secured a purchase option in the reported amount of 22 million euros. Real, in turn, wrote a buyback right of 27 million euros in the contract. Recently it was said in Italy that the Rossoneri would want to reduce the sum in the event of a permanent commitment and transfer a maximum of 16 million euros to the Spanish capital – the two European heavyweights apparently could not agree on a corresponding deal.
