Things are currently going haywire in Dortmund. After the bankruptcy in Frankfurt there were unpleasant scenes – or was there?

Borussia Dortmund central defender Nico Schlotterbeck has spoken out about an explosive incident following the 2-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt last Friday. “It’s cooked too hot, it was actually nothing,” said the German international at the press conference before the Champions League game at FC Bologna (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).

What had happened? TV images showed how captain Emre Can had a verbal altercation with Schlotterbeck, among others. Read more about this here. “I haven’t had any arguments with Emre Can. He’s my captain, everything’s fine,” explained Schlotterbeck.

After three defeats at the restart of the Bundesliga and slipping to tenth place, BVB is under a lot of pressure. In the spotlight: coach Nuri Şahin. However, he doesn’t let the precarious situation stop him from enjoying his work. “I’m feeling good. I’m looking forward to the game and I’m confident that we’ll get the three points,” said the 36-year-old with a smile before the duel in the premier class.

According to his own statements, the fact that another defeat will be very difficult for him personally as a coach does not affect him. “I don’t feel any pressure at all,” said Şahin.

“For me it’s more about us finally making this switch tomorrow. And that we take a huge step in the Champions League to gain the momentum and continue to score points and catch up in the Bundesliga,” he explained. BVB is “definitely in debt”.

Unlike in the league, Dortmund is on target in the “premier class”. The Revierklub goes into the penultimate matchday in ninth place with twelve points. Eighth place would be enough for direct qualification for the round of 16. The big goal is to avoid the playoffs and thus two additional games in February. “That would be good for us,” said Şahin, looking at the otherwise very busy schedule.
