The new project by Oscar winner Martin Scorsese has been determined: he films the novel “What Happens at Night” by Peter Cameron. The main roles take on the two Oscar winners: inside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.

According to the “Deadline” by Patrick Marber, the script for the novel adaptation. Apple Original Films and StudioCanal produce together, a deal that is reminiscent of Scorses’s last collaboration with Apple at “Killers of the Flower Moon” (2023). The shooting should start in early 2026.

The plot is about a married US couple who travels to a small European city to adopt a child. There they check into an almost deserted hotel and meet puzzling figures: an extravagant singer, a dilapidated businessman and a mysterious healer. Scorsese and DiCaprio – a tried and tested team
For Leonardo DiCaprio (50), “What Happens At Night” is already the seventh collaboration with Martin Scorsese. Since “Gangs of New York” (2002), the two have stood together on blockbusters such as “Aviator” (2004), “Shutter Island” (2010) or “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013). Most recently, DiCaprio shone in “Killers of the Flower Moon” (2023). For Jennifer Lawrence (35), on the other hand, it is the first collaboration with the director. The two actors: Inside there were already in Adam McKay’s satire “Don’t look up” (2021) together in front of the camera, now the first big drama follows under Scorseses.

According to “Deadline”, DiCaprio consciously chosen this project and against other offers, including a planned Evel Knievel-Biopic by Damien Chazelle. At the same time, his new film “One Battle After Another” starts in the cinemas, staged by Paul Thomas Anderson on September 25, 2025.
