From April 23 to May 23, the Association of Judges and Judicial Officials of the Province of Córdoba became the stage of the individual sample “A = O” (acceleration is directly proportional to oblivion)where the plastic artist María Pía Coppari invited the public to reflect on the link between art and mental health. Through an interactive installation and a series of drawings, engravings and monochromatic openwork, Coppari brought its visual and conceptual research to a new level, promoting dialogue on how artistic practice can be an resource to explore the human mind and its internal dynamics.

“The intention is to dismiss mental health,” Coppari, a degree in Painting from the National University of Córdoba. “I want to open the dialogue about art as a vehicle to investigate the behavior of the brain and the complexity of our individual and collective experiences.” His transdisciplinary approach, which incorporates writing, dance, cinema and drawing, seeks to go beyond the image, becoming a sensory and reflective experience.

The inauguration and closing of the sample had the collaboration of the choreographer Ana Sadir, who directed a dance intervention with a team of dancers and dancers, generating an intimate connection between the movement and the exposed visual pieces. In the audiovisual field, Agustín Pisano joined a job that complemented the narrative of the sample, expanding the proposal towards a comprehensive performative format.

María Pía Coppari: Links between art and mental health

Since its inception, Coppari’s art has been marked by the exploration of different expressive languages. Its production is nourished by painting, engraving and drawing, but also of dance and writing, elements that converge to shape a work that is both introspective and expansive. Its trajectory includes exhibitions in Argentina and Spain, and a series of performances where the body, voice and image interact to challenge the traditional borders of plastic art.

In 2012 he founded María Pía Cultural Space – Art Workshopwhere it provides an artistic teaching and experimentation space, reaffirming its conviction about art as a means of transformation and learning. More recently, in 2024, he presented two outstanding works: Integral music, dance, song and live painting performance In the Caracol Theater and 8M waiting room In the Oulton Institute, both proposals that reinforce their interest in intersection between disciplines.

“A = O”with curatorship by Lucía Gonzalez Makowski, it makes it clear that art can open conversations about the deepest of the human being. In a world where to talk about mental health is still a challenge, Coppari reminds us that art not only represents emotions, but also helps us understand and share them. His sample is an invitation to think, feel and, above all, question the boundaries between art and life.
