A man illegally climbed onto a construction crane in Friedrichshain and accosted police officers with National Socialist slogans.

The 37-year-old was noticed by the crew of a police car on Wanda-Kallenbach-Strasse on Saturday evening, a spokesman said on Sunday. When officers asked him to come down, he insulted them without leaving the crane.

Another request was followed by insults again. In addition, the man is said to have raised his arm in the Hitler salute. Two security guards finally climbed towards him while the 37-year-old climbed down onto an intermediate platform. They took him to the ground and tied him up. The man is said to have shouted “Sieg Heil”.

He was arrested. According to the information, the reason for the climbing was initially unclear. A judge ordered a blood draw. The 37-year-old now faces charges of trespassing, resisting law enforcement officials and using license plates belonging to unconstitutional organizations.
