Danny da Costa (31) and Daniel Batz (34) are retained to the 1st FSV Mainz 05. The defender and the replacement goalkeeper signed new working papers by June 30, 2026. Since Costa’s contract also contains an option for another year. In addition, defensive player Dominik Kohr extended his contract early by two years until June 30, 2028.
“Dominik is a guy with his passion and fighting spirit that Mainz 05 fully embodies. With his speed, physicality and game intelligence, he fills out the central defender position excellently. Kohr initially came from Eintracht Frankfurt to Mainz 05 in early 2021. In 133 missions, the 31-year-old not only collected eight goals and five templates, but also a number of warnings and dismissal. In the Eternal Sündenkartei of the Bundesliga, “Hard-Kohr” is now in second place behind Stefan Effenberg.
Da Costa complemented sports director Bungert: “Danny has developed again in the past few months and that in a rather new position.
