The origin story of PINK TAPE

The title PINK TAPE has been in place since June 2021 and most likely alludes to the pink diamond that Woods had implanted in his forehead in February 2021. Lil Uzi Vert’s third LP has indeed been a long time coming. Woods had already teased the album in an Instagram live in December 2020. In the second half of 2021, PINK TAPE had to be postponed several times. On December 2, 2021, Lil Uzi Vert announced in a live stream that the project would be dropping that same day, which apparently wasn’t the case. With “Just Wanna Rock’ the record’s lead single was released in October 2022. As part of this release, DJ Drama revealed that around 680 Uzi songs could be included in the PINK TAPE tracklist. According to current information, 27 of them eventually made it to the final version. PINK TAPE is supposed to be finally released on Friday.

The trailer, directed by Gibson Hazard, begins with an anime scene in which a giant samurai rips the infamous pink diamond from the animated artist’s forehead. Uzi is then thrown into a futuristic city where everything has to start all over again. Now we see Symere Woods – very real – on the hunt for the lost clunker. The clip is accompanied by Uzi-typical trap beats and punk instrumentals.

Lil Uzi Vert’s latest release is the July 2022 EP RED & WHITE. The most recent studio album, ETERNAL ATAKE, was released in 2020. On July 7th, Lil Uzi Vert will perform in Munich at the first Rolling Loud Festival in Germany. It will be the only Germany concert this year.
