Bayer meets the cup fright – top game in Stuttgart

The DFB Cup had some gripping games and surprises in the quarter-finals. Now it is clear what the games look like for the semi -finals.

Bayer Leverkusen meets third-division club Arminia Bielefeld in the DFB Cup semi-final and has to go to the Alm. This resulted in the draw on Sunday. In Stuttgart there is a top game against lawn ball sport Leipzig. DFB Managing Director Andreas Rettig, who was a guest in addition to Losfee Gerald Asamoah, said: “Everyone can be satisfied except for Leipzig.”

Bielefeld manager Michael Mutzel commented on the lot in the ARD with respect: “They were three difficult tasks that could come. Leverkusen is the most difficult. We are happy to welcome the Doubles winner.”

At the same time, Mutzel wanted to remain optimistic: “We have already hit three Bundesliga clubs, now a category is coming again. But it is 90 minutes, everything can happen.”

Arminia Bielefeld has already thrown out Union Berlin (2nd round), SC Freiburg (round of 16) and recently Werder Bremen (quarter -finals) in the home stadium. In the 1st round, the East Westphalia had prevailed against the ambitious second division club Hannover 96.

Defending champion Bayer Leverkusen is the favorite for the trophy, who had hit Bayern on the way to the semi -finals. But: In the quarter -finals, the “Werkelf” of coach Xabi Alonso almost left Cologne almost against second division. Leverkusen saved only in the extension.

But Stuttgart and Leipzig also expect good chances. The latter could move into the final in Stuttgart for the fifth time in the past seven years.

The games are held on April 1 and 2. The final will take place on May 24th in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
