What’s next for the Galatasaray Istanbul star? In an interview, Sané talks about his future, wishes for Schalke and his goals with the national team.

Leroy Sané can imagine ending his career at his training club FC Schalke 04. “Maybe play for Schalke again, who knows. That would be exciting,” answered the 29-year-old national soccer player in an interview with “Kicker” when asked about a possible Bundesliga comeback.

“I think that would be a great story, but I still have a bit of time. I’m only turning 30,” explained the national player. Sané is currently under contract with Galatasaray Istanbul. He made his Bundesliga debut in the Schalke jersey in 2014 before moving to Manchester City in 2016 and later to FC Bayern.

Sané also fondly remembers his appearances in the Veltins Arena – even as an opponent. It was “relatively funny” how he and Leon Goretzka said to each other every time they arrived at Schalke with Bayern: “It was always extremely cool here.” It was always a special feeling to play in this stadium in front of the fans, said the Essen native.

Sané wishes Schalke a speedy return to the Bundesliga. “We all know that Schalke belongs in the first division. What the fans are doing even in the second division is very special.”

Despite the defeat at Karlsruher SC, he praised Miron Muslic’s team: the team had become “a community” again. “The trainer is doing a good job, he comes across as cool. I also see a few videos on social media. I’m really happy about it.”

Sané also commented on the national team. After his last non-nomination, he continues to pursue a clear goal: “It is still my big goal to be invited to the next courses and then of course to be there and play at the World Cup.” However, he does not yet know whether he will be in the squad for the upcoming qualifying games against Luxembourg (November 14th) and Slovakia (November 17th). National coach Julian Nagelsmann wants to announce the squad on Thursday.
