National coach Julian Nagelsmann first appointed Tom Bischof to the squad of the German national soccer team. Marc-André Ter Stegen returns for the two games in the Nations League.
FC Barcelona’s goalkeeper was recently used in September 2024 before moving up the patella tendon. In the meantime injured or sick in the meantime, Niclas Füllkrug, Serge Gnabry, Aleksandar Pavlović and Florian Wirtz, who are also on the list of the German Football Association (DFB) published on Thursday morning.
As expected, Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart can also be found for the first time in the 26 player. “Nick is a very good striker who has the momentum totally on his side and has extraordinary skills. He was close to it last time”says Nagelsmann.
With Waldemar Anton and Felix Nmecha, two professionals from Borussia Dortmund are there again, who had not been in the squad for a long time. Robin Gosens, who most recently convinced in Serie A with AC Florence, is also there again.
Bishop because of club World Cup at Nagelsmann and not with the U21
Tom Bischoff is for the first time. The 19 -year -old midfielder is moving from TSG Hoffenheim to FC Bayern Munich for the new season. Since he will take part in the record champion in the club World Cup (June 14th to July 13th in the United States), the DFB waives a nomination of the exceptional talent for the U21 European Championship, which is partly carried out in parallel to the club World Cup. Bishop recently played for Germany’s U20.
Bishop skipped a step, Nagelsmann explains the nomination, which he also made because Jamal Musiala was still missing after an injury. Antonio Rüdiger and Kai Havertz are also missing in the squad, who recently gave his comeback at Arsenal after almost three months of injury.
Nagelsmann: “You really wanted to be there”
He replied with Musiala, Rüdiger and Havertz, says Nagelsmann. They all assured him that they would like to be there. In the end, however, he made the decision not to nominate her yet.
For reasons of injuries, the national coach has to do without Nico Schlotterbeck and Tim Kleindienst compared to the quarter -finals against Italy. “Of course we would like to have them”says Nagelsmann.
In addition, Jonathan Burkardt, Stefan Ortega and Jamie Leweling are missing in the squad in March.
Germany in the semi -finals against Portugal
Germany will meet Portugal on June 4 in Munich in the semi -finals of the Nations League. If the game is won, Spain or Italy will be the final opponent in Munich on June 8th. Otherwise, the loser of the second semi -final game on June 8th in Stuttgart is third.
To prepare for the games, the national team meets on May 30th in Herzogenaurach.
