Paris (AP) – Jule Niemeier confidently made the leap into the main field at the French Open.

The young German tennis hopes outclassed the Japanese Moyuka Uchijima in Paris in the last qualifying round 6:0, 6:1 and is thus in the main draw for the first time in the classic clay court in Roland Garros. The 22-year-old from Dortmund only needed 51 minutes for her success.

Angelique Kerber, Andrea Petkovic and Tatjana Maria had previously automatically qualified for the French Open for women. On Thursday, Laura Siegemund also had the chance to be there from Sunday. On Friday, Nastasja Schunk in the women’s category, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and Daniel Masur in the men’s category will be fighting for a place in the main draw.
