Hoogeveen is investigating options for preserving Hollandscheveld oak

The municipality of Hoogeveen is having a tree effect analysis made for the oak that is in danger of being felled in Hollandscheveld.

That is the outcome of a discussion between the municipality, IVN, network operators Tennet and Rendo and the initiators of a petition to preserve the tree. The municipality had previously announced that it wanted to talk about alternatives to hood.

The oak on the Riegmeer business park is scheduled to be felled, because Tennet and Rendo want to build an electricity station on the site of the tree. This is necessary if new companies want to establish themselves on the site, or for the connection of solar panels, says the municipality. A felling permit has been in effect since April 5.

A tree effect analysis is a standardized assessment that identifies all possible effects of activities on the survival of the tree. An investigation into a possible relocation of the oak is also part of the investigation.

The research should provide a complete picture of the possibilities for sustainably preserving the oak for Riegmeer, the municipality reports.

The investigation will take several months. The group then meets again to discuss possible next steps.
