The German women’s national hockey team is still waiting for its first victory in the new Pro League season.

After three straight defeats at the start, the score against hosts Argentina in Santiago del Estero was 1:1 (0:1) after regular playing time – but the South Americans retained the upper hand in the penalty shootout with 5:4.

Lena Micheel (38th) scored a deserved equalizer for national coach Janneke Schopman’s team; Argentina had already taken the lead in the 2nd minute through Victoria Granatto.

Vice European champion Germany ends the first phase in sixth place in the table with one point – but the three teams behind them (Australia, China, Spain) have not yet entered the competition. League leaders Belgium have a maximum of twelve points.

“It was a very aggressive game for us. Unfortunately, we missed the opening phase a bit and conceded the first goal early on,” said Yani Zhong: “We needed the first half to get back into it, but then we accepted the fight and are happy that we can leave here with a point.”

The German team will continue from February 6, 2026 in Valencia, where they will face Spain and Belgium twice as opponents.
