On Tuesday evening, Hicham was waiting for a customer at Kortrijk station when a white Renault Clio with three wheels suddenly came rushing towards him at high speed. Hicham Nouali, AMB TAXI: “The customer gets in, but at that moment a car comes along that was going way too fast. He was maybe driving at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour in a 30 zone. He hit my taxi and then the walls of the station. That is not normal, everyone was watching.”
Cooperation with the police
The Renault Clio continues driving. So Hicham immediately calls the police. They ask him to continue pursuing the Clio without taking any risks. His client is now filming the chase. “I stayed behind the car because I knew that the police of Harelbeke and Waregem were working on it. This way I could help them, it was a collaboration.”
Thanks to Hicham, the police can track the white Renault Clio perfectly. Ultimately, the car was stopped in the Nieuwstraat in Avelgem. The driver is 21, had a provisional driver’s license and is under the influence of alcohol. “It’s not good. When you drink it’s better to call a taxi or stay at home. Why would you drive in such a situation? That can cause big problems. It’s good that no one is dead. It’s better to give 20 euros to a taxi. You have to respect people’s safety. That’s important.”
