He has numerous fans and played his last match. But this didn’t go as planned for John Cena.
John Cena and former boxer Henry Maske have something in common: The wrestling star lost his last match against the Austrian Gunther on Sunday night. Cena, 17-time WWE Champion, is ending his career after 25 years. However, fans would have wanted a different ending.
Even though the outcome was to be expected, emotions ran high among Cena’s supporters. According to “Sport 1”, there were boos. The manner of the defeat seemed to particularly concern fans: Cena lost by submission in Gunther’s well-known sleeperhold chokehold.
The match was over after 25 minutes. This was followed by an emotional farewell ceremony with stars and former companions. Numerous fans wrote on Instagram under Cena’s last post and thanked him. The US club LA Galaxy, where former BVB star Marco Reus is under contract, also commented: “Greatest of all time.” So in German: “The greatest of all time.”
