The 26-year-old man who was arrested for shooting several cats in Eindhoven will remain in custody longer. His pre-trial detention was extended this week by ninety days.
There have been several reports of cats being shot in recent months. One of the cats did not survive being shot with a crossbow. It was not known for a long time who the perpetrator was.
On Tuesday, May 19, the police were alerted by local residents because they had seen the suspected shooter. Officers immediately went there and found the man. He matched the description and was carrying a bag with a cocked crossbow. After his arrest, police searched the man’s home, where darts were seized.
After the arrest of the man, the animal police in Eindhoven investigated the shooting of at least five cats. A few days before the arrest, the man had shot a cat in Maria Montessori Street.
