Hannes Wolf open to change with a decent offer – time in Gladbach “a bit tough”

Return to Austria not an option

Borussia Mönchengladbach is facing a change in the summer. The free transfers of Marcus Thuram, Ramy Bensebaini and captain Lars Stindl have already been confirmed, as well as the sale of Jordan Beyer. Even Hannes Wolf does not rule out a change despite the contract until 2024.

“I’ve been here for three years now and you can say that it’s been a bit tough – for both sides. Of course you have to think about how to proceed. I now have another year on contract in the summer, if something decent comes up I will of course get in touch with Gladbach, my family and my advisor. But I’m also happy for once when the holidays come. Then I’ll think about it,” said the 24-year-old left winger at “SkyAustria“.

With a fee of 9.5 million euros, Wolf is one of the top 15 most expensive additions in the history of the Gladbach club. The “foals” had previously paid a rental fee of 1.5 million euros to RB Leipzig. But he was only a regular player in the 2020/21 season, also because injuries often slowed him down. This season he has made 17 appearances in the Bundesliga, but he had to take a break due to a shoulder injury. During his time in the Gladbach jersey, his market value fell from 11 million to currently 4 million euros.

Gladbach’s wolf: Return to Austria not planned “in the foreseeable future”.

A return to his home country of Austria is currently not an option for the native of Graz. “I have to be honest and say that I don’t plan to do that anytime soon. Never say never, but for me there is only one club in Austria today and that is Salzburg. As we know, they are currently relying on younger players, so I would be an old player again,” said Wolf, who can also rule out Sturm Graz “at the moment”. “Even if it would certainly be attractive to live in Graz. That will be enough in a few years when I come back to Graz.” The winger was active for RB Salzburg from 2017 to 2019.
