FC Assen puts competitor Haren aside and climbs to place 2

FOOTBALL – In Saturday’s fifth division D, the title race seems to be decided. With three games to play, VVK has built up a safe margin of four points to the pursuers. The closest pursuer has been FC Assen since yesterday, which was too strong for VV Haren on their own field with 3-0.

As a result, the yellow shirts currently have the best papers for the second period title and second place in the final ranking. Both results give the club a post-competition spot.

“And we want to go up,” said FC Assen coach Peter Hamming. “We have been unbeaten for months and of course want to keep it up. It is going well and we can effortlessly fit under 19 players, players who have to make the step up next season anyway. The fourth division would therefore be perfect.”

The game against competitor Haren, which just like Assen has 38 points after yesterday, resulted in a justified three-pointer for the home club. In the first half, Christiaan Trijbels took care of the 1-0 after a struggle from Haren goalkeeper Tim Weersing. After the break, Trijbels also made it 2-0 and Allessandro Hut determined the final score, when the guests were now on the field with ten men after a red card for Tijmen Borg, at 3-0.
