The accident happened around half past two on the Gentsesteenweg. The 88-year-old man was driving his mobility scooter on the cycle path towards Beveren-Leie when he suddenly entered the road. The driver of a car, an 87-year-old woman, could no longer avoid him.
The eighty-year-old fell from his mobility scooter and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance and MUG team in a critical condition. The driver was unhurt, but was very impressed.
