The 41-year-old Dutchman made an organized trip with a Nautilus Ibiza boat with a group of about twenty other tourists to the popular small rocky island of Es Vedrà, southwest of Ibiza.

The tourists sailed along the coastal strip. At Es Vedrà the boat stopped so that the tourists could swim for a while. Around 12 o’clock the boat wanted to sail further. But then the crew discovered that a passenger was missing. He was found 20 meters from the boat in the water. He drifted in the water on his stomach.

The crew tried to resuscitate him, but this was in vain. The man was transferred to the port of Sant Antoni, but no one could do anything there either. Around 5 p.m., emergency services confirmed that the man had died.

A spokesperson for Nautilus Ibiza told local newspapers that the Guardia Civil is investigating the case. According to sources close to the investigation, the man would have been on vacation independently and he had no supervisor with him.
