Mona Keijzer: ‘Half of homes should be made in factories’
The government is allocating 3.4 billion euros to accelerate the construction of new residential areas. The money will be used for better infrastructure: new roads, additional public transport, a stronger power grid and preparing land for construction. But construction will also be faster, by having a large part of the construction take place in factories. This should make the start of 273,000 homes possible. According to outgoing Minister Mona Keijzer (Public Housing and Spatial Planning), the investment is necessary to tackle the housing crisis. “Ultimately, much more is needed,” she says in News of the Day. The first projects should get off the ground next year.
