According to the port, the record call confirms Zeebrugge’s maritime expertise. Through continued investments in infrastructure and nautical accessibility, the port remains able to safely receive ships with deep drafts.

“With the new draft record, we are taking another powerful step for Belgium and our customers,” says Marc Beerlandt, CEO of MSC Belgium. “This achievement shows the attractiveness of our ports for the largest vessels.”

Bruges also sounds proud. “This is a special moment for our port and for the city,” responds Mayor Dirk De fauw, also vice-chairman of Port of Antwerp-Bruges. “Thanks to the close cooperation in the nautical chain, we are further putting Zeebrugge on the map as a reliable gateway to Europe.”

Terminal operator CSP Zeebrugge is satisfied. “The record confirms that our coastal port can accommodate the largest ships,” says commercial manager Nancy Van Osselaer.

The Maritime Services and Coastal Agency calls the start-up proof of the joint ambition. “These records show the port’s will to continue growing,” said Administrator General Nathalie Balcaen. “We support this with the expertise of our pilots and supervisors.”
