What music will be in the Drenthe 1000 at the end of this year? You decide that this week during voting week. From The Shadows to Lohues, everything passes by, Aaldert discovers while he is out and about in the province.
“Accordion music, that was my first introduction to music,” says Bertus van den Hof of the International Clog Museum in Eelde. “Someone who lived with us played the accordion. That’s why.”
No music is played in the clog museum, which now only welcomes groups. But that does not mean that Van den Hof does not like music. Certainly not, even. “After being introduced to accordion music, I started to love Jumping Jewels, The Shadows and similar bands. I still love that music. Music from my time.”
Volunteers have gathered in the Griendtsveenpark in Erica to express their preferences for the Drenthe 1000. This summer there was a big party for the 40th anniversary. “In the beginning there were only a few people from the area,” says co-founder André Blaauwgeers. The zoo has now grown into an area of 12,000 square meters, which is run entirely by volunteers.
The number one volunteer at Griendtsveenpark is Op Fietse. “He has good music, we all know that,” says Blaauwgeers about Skik frontman Daniel Lohues. “You could fill the entire Drenthe 1000 with it. But I also like other music. For example, Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton is a winner for me.”
The list of twenty entries is supplemented by the volunteers. From Henk Wijngaard to Men’s Choir Karrespoor and Marianne Veenstra, Dutch song is good in Erica.
