Commemorative medals for International Missions awarded | News item

For their efforts in peace missions around the world, 41 police officers, members of the Royal Military Police and civilian experts received the International Missions Commemorative Medal yesterday in the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague.

After the opening of the ceremony by Minister Yeşilgöz-Zegerius of Justice and Security, the medals were presented by Minister Bruins Slot of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Vice Admiral Boudewijn Boots and Commander of the Royal Military Police Lieutenant General Annelore Roelofs and Deputy Chief of Police of the police Liesbeth Huyzer.

The decorated officials have contributed to greater security and stability in countries such as Mali, Iraq, Libya and Ukraine. They help, among other things, in tackling cross-border organized crime, modernizing security apparatus, and building the rule of law.

All children under the age of 16 of the decorated officials received a children’s medallion for their support at home.
