100 million transfer threatens four years of lock

Mychajlo Mudryk has been suspended because of supposed doping since December. Now the Chelsea player is officially charged.
The English Football Association FA charged Mychajlo Mudryk for a possible doping violation. If the accusation is confirmed, the 24-year-old wing player from Chelsea could be blocked. According to rules of the FA, the lock could be up to four years. First, however, a hearing must take place before a decision is made.
According to the FA, it is about the “possession and/or the use of a forbidden substance”. Due to the ongoing proceedings, the association does not want to comment on, according to the AP news agency, he announced by email.
Chelsea and the player are cooperative. Last year, the club had already stated that Mudryk had “categorically assured that it never had knowingly banned substances”. According to club information, both the Ukrainian and the association work with the authorities to clarify the cause of the positive finding.
In January 2023, the Premier League club had signed the international for a transfer fee of up to 100 million euros from Schachtar Donetsk-70 million euros, as possible bonus payments. Mudry’s contract in London runs until summer 2031.
