Change from ex-Schalke player Nabil Bentaleb to OSC Lille stops: medical check

Former Schalke has completed check

Actually, after difficult years at Schalke 04, things went uphill for Nabil Bentaleb last season like it hasn’t been for a long time. Over the course of the season, the 28-year-old midfielder at relegated Angers SCO doubled his market value to 7 million euros and played 2,493 minutes in Ligue 1 – he last collected more in 2016/17. After relegation, Bentaleb attracted the interest of Conference League qualifier LOSC Lille and has already completed the medical check with the northern French. But apparently there were complications.

Lille President Olivier Létang told the newspaper “L’Equipe” on Thursday: “At this point in time and taking into account medical confidentiality, we are waiting for the results of further investigations. There are some things that have not yet been clarified.” Létang referred to a compulsory procedure in France for the Ligue 1 medical committee, without elaborating on it. “It is possible that we may request additional information as soon as we receive it, particularly whether it is only a preliminary or a final decision. Until then, I cannot comment.”

What this means for the transfer is still open. Bentaleb is under contract with Angers until 2025, the transfer fee that the clubs have agreed on is said to be around 4.5 million euros.
