Carlos Santana remains undeterred by the misinformation being spread about him. After viral posts began circulating on Facebook claiming that the legendary guitarist had criticized the NFL’s decision to hire Bad Bunny to headline next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, Santana released a statement saying in which he emphasized that he expressly supports the star’s appearance.

“I congratulate Bad Bunny on his success and his current position in the world and at the Super Bowl and I’m happy for him,” Santana’s statement begins. “I feel completely at one with what he is doing. Because we are here to use art to complement the world and bring it more harmony and unity. However, we live in a time of fear, of division, of separation, of superiority and inferiority. Fear is the prevailing feeling right now. Fear is what motivates ignorant people to put words in my mouth. To say that I didn’t want Bad Bunny to be at the Super Bowl occurs. I never said that. And I would never say that.”

Posts shared on Facebook also claimed that Santana wasn’t just criticizing the younger star for wearing a dress. But also personally filed a petition to replace Bad Bunny as a half-time performer. Both claims are false.

“Let me be clear: my heart is in complete harmony with Bad Bunny, and I celebrate his success, his triumph and his phenomenal achievement,” he continued.

Misinformation and reactions

“Everything else comes from people’s ignorance. We live in a time when hostile forces love to create conflict, separation and division. Because they don’t like unity, harmony, oneness and joy. They want people to be unhappy and spend too much time in their thoughts. I spend a lot of time in my heart. And in my heart I celebrate Bad Bunny. I can’t stop playing his song ‘Monaco.’ There’s something really magical about him.”

Santana urged the people spreading these rumors to “do something more creative with their energy.”

Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis added that AI had created a number of trolling posts and rumors about Santana that had attempted to be spread. “Don’t rely on random or unverified posts,” he said. “Even well-intentioned media can be misled.”

Reactions to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl appearance

Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance has already caused a stir on the internet. Especially among MAGA supporters. Leaders of the far-right movement threatened to station ICE officers outside the stadium where the game will take place.

Meanwhile, Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow, announced a counter-program from Turning Point USA. Bad Bunny has reacted calmly so far. As host of “Saturday Night Live,” he told the audience they had “four months to learn Spanish” before he appeared.
