Since six o’clock on Friday morning, the police have been busy reconstructing the shooting in Rotterdam in which Sam van Buul (24) from Oss was killed. The reconstruction should provide more clarity about what exactly happened. Main suspect Rick van R. is present at the reconstruction.

On November 9, 2025, Sam was in the car with her 28-year-old boyfriend Rick van R. and another 20-year-old man when a gun went off. Sam was fatally hit in the head. Investigation shows that two bullets were fired from the weapon.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has charged Van R. with attempted manslaughter or culpable homicide. Justice suspects that he may have tried to pull the gun out of the victim’s hands, causing it to go off.

The firearm, a converted gas pistol, has still not been recovered, nor has the suspect’s telephone.

Main suspect in reconstruction
To gain more clarity about what exactly happened on Kralingseplein in Rotterdam, the investigation into Sam’s death was expanded to include the reconstruction. Main suspect Rick van R. was present on Friday, writes RTV Rijnmond.

He may have given clues as to where the gun and phone could be located. According to the broadcaster, officers searched the verge of Kralingseplein with metal detectors.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, the reconstruction is seen as an ‘on-site interrogation’. Everything is captured on film. Part of Kralingseplein was therefore closed all morning. The police were still at work at 1 p.m.
